Personal Protective Equipment

This is a program required by OSHA and WISHA in all safety programs. PPE is required where any hazards to employees exist. You must make sure employees have, use and care for appropriate PPE. You are required to do a Hazard Analysis to determine which PPE is necessary.

The following items should be addressed:

  • Hazard Assessment
  • Document your assessment
  • Select appropriate PPE
  • Provide PPE
  • Train your employees to use the PPE
  • Retrain if necessary
  • Document training
  • Require employees to use PPE
  • Keep PPE in safe and good condition
  • Make sure employees use Appropriate eye, face , head, foot and hand protection.
  • Make sure employees are protected from drowning.

Employee owned equipment may be used if the Employer allows but, the Employer shall be responsible to assure its adequacy, proper maintenance, and sanitation of equipment.
