Lockout Tag-Out Program

Every company must identify what procedure(s) will be followed to ensure 100% de-energizing or zero mobility of equipment in a Lock-Out/Tag-Out Program before proceeding with work on a piece of equipment or working adjacent to dangerous moving objects. The following items must be addressed:
  • Clearly state your company’s policy regarding lock-out including
    • Notification of employees that work is to be done on equipment
    • Who will be assigned responsibility to put on and take off tags and locks
  • You must also identify the following:
    • Tags for Heavy Equipment
    • Locks
    • Identification of Lock-Out Points
    • Placement and removal of Locks
    • Alternative methods of controlling the energy source
    • Training
